Rally Moto

It's no secret that the iconic motorcycle brand has been moving in a new direction. Call them what you want, these bikes are all about having fun and exploring the beautiful countryside we're fortunate to be surrounded by. You could be riding along smooth tarmac one minute, then hurtling down a tree-lined bridleway the next, then trucking along a fireroad in deepest Wales the next.

RawHyde has been involved in the Adventure Riding segment of the motorcycle world for more than 15 years. To some riders, this is an issue, but if you're really into adventure riding, the less things that can go wrong, the better. A mid-sized adventure bike normally weighs in between 140 kg to 180 kg (fuelled without gear).

After breakfast Sunday, riders will navigate back to Middlecreek Campground, approximately 50 miles. Again, it's a better adventure motorcycle for those who prefer to adventure on paved roads but are easily persuaded to have a look where that overgrown trail goes every now and again - provided that they know when enough is enough though.

The global motorcycle community is currently dominated by commuting motorcycles, however, the off-road motorcycle market is experiencing the fastest growth of any motorbike segment. The XPulse is a slightly bigger version of the now-discontinued 150 cc Hero Impulse, bigger only in terms of engine displacement though; the XPulse has a shorter height overall, to make it more accessible to riders of various builds and height.

They usually have less suspension travel and ground clearance than lightweights, and often come with tires that offer a compromise between dirt and pavement performance. This is the perfect category if you're planning an adventure ride through cold motorcycle adv territory or during a colder time of year.

When your road suddenly turns to muddy ruts it's often enough to make some riders turn around and head back the other way. These motorcycles are usually heavier and more durable than the models derived from off-road motorcycles. Typical lightweight adventure bikes normally weigh in at sub 140 kg (fuelled without gear).

Couple that with the practicality of a comfortable seat for long distance riding, and other rider comforts such as a tall windscreen and a relaxed riding position, and you've got a great package on your hands - just don't expect it to win many off-road races while you're riding it.

Adventure motorcycles are built for reliability. Some adventure bikes, like the BMW S1000XR and Ducati Multistrada , tend more towards the sports riding experience. These dual purpose machines excel in both on and off-road terrain and have been selected based on ability, reliability and the ‘fun-to-ride' factor.

Adventure isn't all about how hard you ride off-road. Based out of Pahrump, Nevada JLR Off-Road Training has been conducting schools for adventure and dual-purpose riders since 1999. Bikes that have off-the-shelf options available will normally be a lot more cost-effective and time friendly to setup.

60mm suspension fork smooths out the bumpy roads or trails. The SWM SuperDual is a lightweight adventure bike powered by a 600 cc, single-cylinder engine based on the old Husqvarna TE 160 enduro bike. Dual-sport motorcycles are the most practical choice in rural areas in many parts of the world, and when traveling on unpaved trails they can often be a necessity.

While the Ducati Multistrada might not be the first thing that springs to mind when you're trying to think of potential adventure motorcycles, it's time to change that mindset. But if you want to get serious with off-road riding, add the Rally Raid kit to the CB500X and it completely transforms the bike into something much more capable in the dirt.
